Good News

Many truths will be mentioned here, and it all may be over whelming or confusing, but it can be reduced down to five simple points:

1. God Loves You

John 3:16 – For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

2. Everyone Has Broken His Laws

Romans 3:23 – For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

3. There is a Penalty for Our Sin

Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

4. He Sent His Son to Pay that Penalty for You

Romans 5:8 – But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

5. He is Waiting for You to Call Out to Him

Romans 10:13 – For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

God created humanity to love Him and worship Him, but our sin has separated us from God. Because of our sin we deserve to punished for all eternity in Hell.

Just like Heaven, Hell is a real place and unless we find forgiveness from God then that is where we go. Hell has been described as a prepared place for an unprepared people. You see, God made Hell for Satan and the demons that follow him, not for people. But if we do not turn to God in this world, if we do not prepare for eternity, then it is where we end up.

To enter Heaven and be with God we must reach His standard, which is perfection. God warns that “the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God…” – I Corinthians 9:6

Sin began for humanity in the Garden of Eden. God had created Adam and Eve and He gave them just one instruction, to not eat of the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Sometime after this instruction, nobody knows how long, Satan deceived Eve into eating the fruit and Adam immediately did the same. In Romans 5:12 Paul describes it this way, “…by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

The last statement is important to realise and apply to ourselves, we have all sinned. Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” Just in case any other proof was needed I want to share I John 1:8, “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.”

We have all sinned, we have all broken God’s law. Because we have sinned we have not reached God’s standard.God revealed His standard of righteousness, perfection, by the law. If you have ever lied, stolen anything, lusted, blasphemed or hated someone then you have broken that law.

According to the Bible “whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.” – James 2:10

By that measure we have all broken God’s law, and so cannot go to Heaven. We have committed a crime against God and the punishment is eternity in Hell.

Either we have to face the punishment for our crime or someone has to be punished in our place.

The Bible teaches that God “Commendeth (showed) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us”. – Romans 5:8. Because Christ was born of a virgin He did not inherit the sinful line from Adam, and because He never sinned He could be our substitute.

In fact, the only acceptable Substitute is Christ. Christ died on the cross and all of our sin and guilt was placed on Him.

He suffered and died in our place: “For he (God) hath made him (Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness (perfection) of God in him.” – II Corinthians 5:21.

Declaring this same truth we read in I Peter 3:18, “For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:”

Making this truth plain an apostle preached in Acts 4:12, “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

Three days after He died Christ rose again! Christ won the victory over death, sin and the grave and that victory He shares with us!

“O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? (56) The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. (57) But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” – I Corinthians 15:55-57

To receive God’s gift of salvation and one day not only enter God’s presence, but also the gates of Heaven, we must come to God the only way, His way.
After asking the question on how to be saved the Philippian jailer was told, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” – Acts 16:31.

We must admit we are sinners and turn from our sin, and ask God to forgive us because of what Christ has done. Then God will forgive us and accept us as His child. Then, and only then, can we know peace with God and that Heaven will one day be our home.
